There are <\/span>69% of Canadians<\/span><\/a> that are actively engaging on social media and businesses are really taking advantage of this innovative way to promote their companies. With <\/span>nearly half<\/span> of the Canadian operated businesses <\/span>using social media<\/span> as a promotion tool and <\/span>38% using it to sell their products or services<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

What is social commerce? <\/b><\/h3>\n

Businessdictionary.com<\/span><\/a> provides an excellent definition for the term social commerce. The words \u201csocial commerce\u201d refers \u201cto a form of electronic commerce which uses social networks to assist in the buying and selling of products. This type of commerce utilizes user ratings, referrals, online communities and social advertising to facilitate online shopping.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

In the past, platforms like Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram were only used by people that were commenting, liking and sharing to their friends and family. Now, e-commerce is changing and businesses have bought into social sites.
