As part of moving towards a more protected web, Google hopes that this strong avocation will be enough to persuade all sites to eventually adopt the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hitachi-systems-security.com\/blog\/5-things-you-must-know-about-https-encryption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HTTPS encryption<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HTTPS encryption protects the channel that exists between your browser and the website that you\u2019re visiting which ensures that nothing can tamper with the traffic or keep tabs on what you are doing. If this encryption system did not exist, anyone with access to your router or ISP could intercept information that is sent between, including personal passwords.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This decision <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/security.googleblog.com\/2016\/09\/moving-towards-more-secure-web.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was not made abruptly<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as Google Chrome has taken steps towards higher security over the past year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019ve [been helping] users understand that HTTP sites are not secure by gradually marking a larger subset of HTTP pages as \u2018not secure\u2019, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/security.googleblog.com\/2018\/02\/a-secure-web-is-here-to-stay.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">explained Chrome security product manager Emily Schechter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The updated version 68 of Google Chrome will now warn users with an extra notification in the address bar of the browser when they are using an HTTP site, while HTTPS-encrypted sites receive a green lock icon to notify the user that the site they are visiting is secure to use.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet, this shouldn\u2019t come as a surprise for Google Chrome users, as the company has been slowly drifting away from unencrypted sites for years by down-ranking them and instituting regular warnings for password fields.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Needless to say, the increased Google Chrome security new system adoption was brought on due to the already existing encrypted Google traffic to HTTPS sites, with 81 out of the top 100 sites on the web already defaulting to HTTPS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This search giant is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/news\/google-chrome-is-now-marking-all-http-sites-as-not-secure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">keeping its promise<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and making the internet a safer place for users.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you think of this update in Google security?
