Your Customers Like to Blog…So Should You!

Last Updated on May 29, 2019 by Numinix Developer

Whether you are just starting a business, moving an established business online, or looking for some fresh customers, starting a blog is the best thing you can do.  Blogging has become the social networking tool for getting information out to the masses in a hurry.  “But wait”, you say, “I thought blogging was only for angst ridden teenagers, political hacks, and people with a grudge against Apple”. Not true my friends.  Blogging is the key to bringing customers to your site.  With a well maintained blog, you can actually increase your page ranking, connect with your customers, and position your site as the go to place for the most useful information in your sphere of expertise.  Let’s take a look at each of these benefits in a bit more detail.

Page Rank: Blogging is one of the best things you can do for increasing your ranking on search engines like Google.  For whatever reason, blogs seem to carry a lot of weight in the ranking world.  For proof, just Google a particular subject and many of the top ten entries will be from blogs.  This is because blogs are updated regularly, and Google and other pages like it give extra brownie points to sites that are updated regularly.  If you keep a copy of your most recent blog entry on your homepage, it is an easy way to assure your homepage is updated on a regular basis.  All of this will move your name up the list and make it easier for customers to find you.

Making the Connection:  One of the reasons people blog is to feel connected with others in their circle of friends, community, or the world as a whole.  One of the primary reasons people will keep coming back to your site is that they feel connected to you.  See how a blog can help with that?  By posting regularly to your blog, customers will feel like they know you, and know about your business.  They will feel a natural connection to your site that will keep them coming back for the goods and services that you offer.  Any great salesman is a relationship builder.  Once that relationship is built, loyalty naturally ensues.  What’s more, a customer that feels connected to you will tell his friends about you.  He will post your blogs on his site, and then you have reached an even wider audience with little to no effort on your part.  It’s like the old Clairol ad from the 70’s: “I told two friends about Clairol hair products.  They they told two friends. And so on, and so on and so on.”  I can already hear your sales increasing.

Show and Prove:  Your blog is an opportunity for you to show your customers that your are not just a resource for them, but the resource for them!  You can blog about important trends, new innovations, and answer some of their probing questions.  As they began to build confidence in your ability to help them, they will want to see what you are going to say next.  While they are on your site, they may stick around and make a purchase.  As I stated earlier, they will also tell their friends.  That means more sales for you!

So if you have a website, start a blog.  It’s really just that simple.  You may be thinking, “I don’t have time to write a blog”.  That’s where we come in.  If you need a ghost writer, let us know.  We know a couple of good ones.   You need help getting started?  We are here for you.  Now, go tell two friends.
